- In a large sauté pan, add butter and heat over medium heat. Add apples and allow to cook until slightly soft, about 4 minutes. Add brown sugar and stir to combine. Using a microplane, grate 1 teaspoon of fresh cinnamon and 1/2 teaspoon of fresh nutmeg and mix to combine. Cook until apples have broken down, another 5 minutes.
- Divide the apples between bowls, top with crushed vanilla wafers and cream.
